Firmware upgrade for DJI Mavic 3 for EU C1,video certification

As officially defined by the European Drone Regulations, your Mavic 3 or Mavic 3 Cine has received the C1 EU Type Certificate and qualifies for Open Class A1, available from 9 December.

The new firmware brings many new features to the DJI Mavic 3, including Cruise Control, night mode, support for EU C1 certification, Remote ID and more.

was added to the Aircraft:

  • Added Night Mode to Recording Mode, supports 4K 30fps and ISO 800 to 12800.
  • Added output quality settings for Hyperlapse, select from the High and Preview options.
  • Added ISO 1600 for D-Log.
  • Added Spotlight and POI when using the telephoto lens, supports static theme.
  • Added Cruise Control. Set one of the customisable buttons on the remote to Cruise.
  • Check to enable this feature. Added Gain and Expo Tuning. Maximum airspeed, brake sensitivity and other settings can be adjusted to different flight modes.
  • Added support for EU C1 certification.
  • Added support for RID in the United States.
  • Optimized the name rule for the material, the file name is incremental after formatting.
  • Fixed problem: color was abnormal in DNG photos.
  • Some minor errors have been corrected.

On the DJI RC Pro controller:

  • Added the ability to close the prompt, using the C1 and C2 buttons, after Low Battery RTH prompts.
  • Added support for the DJI Mavic 3 Classic.
  • Some minor errors have been corrected.

This means that you will be able to use the Mavic 3 under the A1 category officially.

C1-certified drones with C1-compliant firmware are also subject to additional mandatory changes under European Drone Regulation:

  • The Mavic 3 series meets the new noise reduction level of 83db.
  • When ActiveTrack Intelligent Flight Mode is used to film people or objects, the distance to the person/object will be limited to 50 meters. Beyond 50m, ActiveTrack will be disabled.
  • the auxiliary LEDs will automatically turn on or off during use, based on the actual environment; and
  • the LEDs at the front arms of the drone will blink by default for the duration of the UAV being powered on.


DJI’s guide to the process one must follow to obtain the C1 tag. This process will be done through the DJI Fly app.

Step 1 – Update version 1.9.0

First check if the DJI Fly app is up to date (version 1.9.0 or later). Then connect your Mavic 3 or Mavic 3 Cine and update it to the latest software version (01.00.0900 or later).

Step 2 – All in one touch

Once the software is updated, a pop-up window will take you directly to the C1 label application – just click “Apply”

“Not now” = you can continue the 2-minute process later in the Customer Support area of the application, in the “C1 Class Identification Tag” section

Step 3 – Easy ordering

Just fill in the short application form and send it to us. Your C1 label will arrive by letter in a short time. (Please note: labels will be sent without a tracking number. Delivery time depends on local factors.)

Step 4 – Quick proof

Attach the C1 label following the instructions included. Upload a photo of your drone with the tag to the DJI Fly app > Profile > Service and support > Class C1 identification tag

 

Step 5 – Final stage

Your final document will appear in the DJI Fly app within 3 working days. Download it, keep it with you, usually stored on your mobile phone.
